Step into Gokoku Japanese Bakery at Tampines Mall and you'll be greeted by the warm aroma of freshly baked Japanese breads that have been perfected since 1961 in Kobe, Japan. This authentic bakery brings over six decades of bread-making mastery to Singapore, staying true to their name "Gokoku Shichifuku" which means "5 grains 7 fortunes" - a philosophy of bringing happiness through wholesome ingredients.
Their signature Gokoku Shichifuku Pan showcases this commitment perfectly, packed with seven nutritious grains including spelt, brown rice, and barley. But it's their famous Mochi Mochi series that often draws long queues, with the cheese and cranberry variants flying off the shelves daily. The bakery's Hokkaido Red Bean Anpan remains a crowd favourite, featuring premium azuki beans that deliver just the right balance of nutty sweetness.
What sets Gokoku apart is their dedication to traditional Japanese baking techniques. Using imported Japanese flour and sakadane (fermented dough), every bun emerges with that distinctive soft, chewy texture that Japanese bakeries are renowned for. From hearty Malt Kurumi Pan studded with walnuts to indulgent Couverture Chocolate Coronets, each creation reflects authentic Japanese craftsmanship adapted for local tastes.
Have tried various different bread and pastries from this shop since they opened in Tampines Mall. However , compared to the time when they just opened , their bread size, ingredient amount and quality seemed to be reduced , just to squeeze out more profit from each bread sold. Hope they continue to have the good standard similar to when this gokoku bakery just opened period and not reduce their standard 🙏🙏this will encourage loyal and long term customers to come back and new customers to come back also

Due to the recent inflation going on everywhere, I noticed that even the prices of this bakery had also went up. So when I was expecting that they keep up or if not maintain their service standards, it actually dropped. During weekend evenings, the queue is always moving very slowly because only 1 counter was open. There were quite a number of staff inside the kitchen as well as outside but it just made me wonder why can’t other staff proactively and quickly open another counter to serve instead of making their customers queue up for such a long time just to pay for a few pieces of expensive bread?
From my experience alone, sometimes the wait can take more than 15mins even when there’s only a handful of customers in front of me.

Recommended by friends to try their mochi cheese cranberry buns and earl grey scones.
Happy to grab hold of the mochi cheese cranberry bun fresh out from oven. What are the chances of pulling apart a piping hot bun, ya! The lil' sugar crystals marries the dehydrated cranberries keeps my taste buds excited. The baked dough is so fluffly soft and 'bouncy' with each chew.
The chocolate cranberry scones. Enuf' said. Just grab one! It aint dry nor hard like other brands that i had tried before. Yup; just grab one. 😄
2.20 bucks each, but erm.... worth the try.

Love it when the bread and scones comes out freshly baked, the lovely fragrance bewitching me to get them baked goods. I love the earl grey tea scone as well as the kokutou x kokutou pan (so soft and chewy)!!!!
Shout out to Kai Ming! Thank you for helping us to get the stamp for spending $20 after we have already paid. He was very fast and quick, clearing the queue in a short amount of time. ☺️☺️
Update on 25th july: shout out to the bakers here in this tamp outlet for making such delicious bread!! tried the kokutou x kokutou pan from the yishun outlet and it is not as fluffy and chewy 🥲

New Japanese bakery that opened its doors on 27 Aug. Shop is rather cramped so there may be a need to manage the customer flow, similar to the arrangement at Millenia Walk. The bakes look delicious as usual.
Insider tip: there’s a free tote bag for min spend of $20 for the first 50 customers daily till 5 sep.

Was extremely satisfied with my purchase due to its great taste, texture & variety. Most products pretty much sells out during dinner time. Price ranges at an average of $2.50 per bun, which is almost similar to other local bread shops. Will definitely patronise again.

The bread, while pricier, has good texture and the store has a good selection available. I tried two of the top 5 items recommended (1 & 3), but these turned out to be rather plain for my liking. The chocolate mochi bread, while not in the top 5, was my preferred flavour. The cheese bread (ranked 3rd) was my least favourite, as it wasn't as cheesy as expected.

Newly opened in end August so do expect to queue after 11am onwards. Figs bun is my favorite as it’s soft and chewy. Cream pan is my son’s favorite as bun is soft and it’s filled with custard, and not too sweet! Kouign amann is quite small comparing to Tiong Bahru bakery but it’s less sweet. Gotta try them all!! :)
