Bengawan Solo at Tampines Mall represents over 40 years of heritage in traditional Southeast Asian confectionery, bringing authentic Indonesian and Singaporean kueh, cakes, and pastries to the heart of the shopping district. Located on Basement 1, this beloved homegrown brand has been synonymous with premium quality baked goods since its founding in 1979 by Tjendri Anastasia, who named the company after the famous song about Solo River in Java.
The outlet showcases Bengawan Solo's signature range of handcrafted delicacies, including their famous Pandan Chiffon Cake, which CNN declared Singapore's National Cake in 2017. Traditional kueh varieties span over 20 different flavors, featuring customer favorites like the intricate 9-layer Lapis Sagu, coconut-filled Ondeh Ondeh, and the popular Kueh Salat. The shop also offers specialty items including Pineapple Tarts, Kueh Lapis, and premium cookies like Macadamia Sugee and Kueh Bangkit.
Operating daily from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, the Tampines Mall outlet receives fresh, oven-warm products delivered 2-3 times daily from their central Woodlands bakery. Committed to traditional production methods and using only the finest quality ingredients without preservatives, many items are still handmade to maintain authenticity and standard. With 38 outlets across Singapore, Bengawan Solo continues to preserve and celebrate the rich culinary heritage of traditional Southeast Asian confectionery for modern generations.
Had a disappointing experience with a Chinese lady working at this place. When I asked a question, she responded rudely without even looking at me—just shouted her answer across without me finishing my question. When I looked at her, clearly unhappy with the way I was spoken to, she didn’t seem to understand and even loudly exclaimed to her colleague (for me to hear) why I acted like she was the one in the wrong. It was unnecessary and made the whole interaction quite unpleasant. Basic courtesy and respect really go a long way.

The ShopBack promotion doesn’t work. I bought $11.10 worth of products. Promo was supposed to be buy $10 and off $1. It wasn’t available and I didn’t want to merely walk away.
Checked the pandan chiffon and noticed it was a pathetic piece for &2.10. Could easily be eaten in one bite for a man. It is only the size of a palm and thinly sliced. This is the most pathetic looking chiffon pandan slice I have seen. Won’t be back to buy this anymore. Totally not value for money. I could have gotten a whole pandan cake at JB verbena for less the price of 2 slices in S’pore
LoL Lost
Rude and slow service auntie, ask to count how much when asking for price or keep asking us to repeat our order or taking the receipt on my own. And because service many people at our back.

I refer to my purchase this afternoon (Tue, 29 Oct) at your Tampines Mall outlet. Transaction no.: 2101146
One of the few items I bought was Soon Kueh. I was asked by the oldest auntie (there were 3 aunties manning by the way) if I wanted Chilli + Sweet Sauce. Turned out that both were not provided when I reached home. To Management of Bengawan Solo, do verify this with your CCTV footage. For years I've been supporting Bengawan Solo, I'm not sure why on earth such measly items have to be "asked". Why can't Chilli + Sweet Sauce be provided by default? Who eats Soon Kueh without them both?
Perhaps it's this oldest auntie rationing the Chilli + Sweet Sauce so that she can buy a golden coffin.
Readers, beware!

Bait and switch. You displayed nice kueh lapis at the display area but when I bought a slice, I was given the end piece from under the counter that’s dry and tastes terrible. I don’t appreciate these underhanded tactics. 16 July Sunday Tampines Mall 11:39 receipt number 1950919

Displays nice pieces of kueh lapis but sells you terrible pieces from under the counter. Trust is gone. Will not come back.

Their cakes are delicious. Their kueh is abit pricey but worth it! Located at a convenient spot in Basement 1 (On the way to NTUC fairprice). Still surviving despite competition from various bakeries (E.g. Breadtalk)

Food is sold out fast as it’s heavy human traffic there.

The Kueh Lapis (Thousand Layer Cake) is pretty good here, you can buy a small one to try if you like the buttery taste of it.

Very delightful and polite staff. An absolute breath of fresh air after encountering multiple rude and dreadful service staff in Singapore from other places.

Every Chinese New Year, I make it a point to buy pastries from this store, which offers a wide variety of treats perfect for gifting to friends and family.
With the festive season upon us again, it's the perfect time to share these delights.
While the pastries are slightly expensive, their quality is commendable. I've noticed that many of the pastries are not made in Singapore but in Indonesia. However, I really hope they can start making these pastries in Singapore to give friends a taste of local flavors.
