I recently dined at Alley Wei, a Chinese restaurant that has been getting some attention, and overall, it was a mixed experience.
The standout dish for me was definitely the beef noodles. The beef was incredibly tender, practically melting in your mouth, and the noodles were perfectly cooked, absorbing the flavorful broth beautifully. It was hearty and satisfying, and I would highly recommend this if you’re craving something comforting.
The warm soy bean was a pleasant surprise—simple, but nice. It was a comforting touch, especially on a chilly day, and it complemented the meal well.
As for the dumplings, they were a bit of a letdown. They were on the smaller side and didn’t have the burst of flavor I was hoping for. While they were decent, they didn’t stand out compared to other dumplings I’ve had at similar restaurants.
The scallion pancake was crispy, but it was also quite oily, which made it a bit heavy to eat. It lacked that perfect balance of crunch and lightness that would’ve made it great.
Overall, Alley Wei has some strong dishes like the beef noodles, but there’s room for improvement with the dumplings and scallion pancake. Still, if you’re in the mood for comforting Chinese food, it’s worth checking out.

Surprise to see not many customer here on Sunday.
Anyway walk in easy and ordered our food. They don't serve pork as they are halal.
We had the pancake with egg which was tasty although not crispy, chicken soup noodle which was normal, steam dumpling taste quite nice and a bowl of bean curd with grassjelly which doesn't taste as great. Overall meal was normal.

A friend brought me here to have beef noodles, and I was puzzled because I found white radish and carrots in the noodles. I wondered what kind of strange combination that was. Later, after reading other people's reviews, I realized that this is a Taiwanese-style restaurant. However, looking at the scallion pancake, it still seems a bit like Northwestern style.
This restaurant has a Google rating of only 2.9 points, mainly due to its high prices. If diners only order beef noodles or pancakes, they shouldn't have this feeling. Also, the taste is quite acceptable, although it's not as delicious as Lanzhou-style noodles. But as a canteen for regular visits, I think the seasoning is acceptable.
I read other reviews that the service here is poor, and it's crowded. I went to eat after 9 pm and didn't encounter a crowded situation. It's just an eatable canteen.

Tried Taiwanese food for the first time and I just fell in love with it. It was finger licking good and the flavours absolutely amazing. Highly recommend it. I loved every single thing ordered from the beef noodle soup, to chicken dumplings, pan fried dumpling and scallion pancake - LOVE. I would come here over and over again.
Nice cosy place to sit in. We didn’t find it hard to get a place and it was quick.

We ordered Youtiao, Steamed Dumplings, Panfried Dumplings & Steamed Chicken Pau for our tea break.
The interesting part is that you drink their beverages from a bowl (Soyamilk and Soyamilk with ChinChow). They do provide straw.
Total damage: $20.80.
Alley Wei is located at Tampines Mall Basement.
The food tasted nice and crispy.
Highly recommended.
It is halal.
You got to order first and collect later even if you dine in.
The staff are friendly.

Was supposed to go to another newly opening eatery. But nowhere to be seen.
Luckily passed by at this Taiwanese cuisine. Great to order for their soyabean milk. Been craving for it. As for the pancake with egg, it was tasty but not crispy. Very thinly made.

Thumbs up for the food we had!
Hala Chinese cuisine that is right smack beside the escalator from b1 up to L1. A very chilled and laid back area that you may miss if you don't look left before going up to Level 1.
Let's Dive in!
Food:
What would could go wrong with meat? Nothing.. especially when the broth is yummy-licious. Cant really explain in words but we can definitely say, it's very yummy and best to pair with something spicy..
Service:
The food was prepared very fast. In under 5mins, what you ordered will be ready. So yeah, we were glad we did not have to wait long koz we needed to have a fast meal.
Atmosphere:
Despite being in Tampines Mall, time kinda slowed down in this area. Try it and you will understand. It is very comforting to know that there are still such places for us to unwind.
All in all, a great place to go to, especially if you have yet to try. A definite recommended makan place!! We actually wanted more, but let's save it for other times la eh🫢😂
Cheers!

Food was great always. But what makes a good food restaurant better is the service. Cashier just stood there looking down and not bothering to see if there was a customer. When she looks up I expected a good morning or hi what's your order. She just kept silent and looked at me. Felt like I was disturbing her work time. Proceeded to order and took a seat. Table was so sticky and had bowl stains. Had to go wash my hands at the sink to get rid of the slime.
This has happened more than once hence I'm writing this now.
If I wanted bad service and good food, better to go to a hawker centre. At least over there, there is a chance you get food service

Tried it for the first time today while passing by. The beef noodle is decent while the pan fried dumplings are quite good. But true to the bad reviews, the cashier is kinda dead-like and can't be bothered to serve. Even when my takeaway order was ready, the uncle at the front didn't even bother to take and pass it to me. Just pointed it at me and told me to take the chopsticks myself if I need it.

Halal, authentic, delicious. Bean curd and soya milk are the signatures. Try their spring onion pancake and you tiao. Decent seating space. Uncle will clear your table once you finish.
