I've been to several branches of Lao Huo Tang, and this was my first visit to the one in Tampines Mall.
As always, their soup is of superior quality. The pig stomach soup has a very strong taste, not just peppery. The ginkgo seeds have completely melted into the soup, making it rich and nourishing.
The herbal taste of the Shi Quan Da Bu Tang, as always, is really strong. If you order this, you'll need some prior experience, as the strong herbal taste might not be suitable for people who haven't tried Shi Quan before. The soup is so herbal that you can vividly taste the sweetness, bitterness, and earthiness.
Besides the soup, their other dishes are great as well. I ordered the pandan chicken, which, though quite similar to their salted egg chicken, is very appetizing.
They do update their menu occasionally. I used to like their Cola chicken wings, but unfortunately, they're no longer available.

Don’t know why it took so long to decide to come here. It’s a really good restaurant. The soup was top-notch. The other dishes weren't bad either. We had an enjoyable meal and will definitely come again.

"Went to try the new outlet that just opened. The soup was alright, but the claypots used had many chips (controversial for a new outlet), and some debris was found in the soup. Many of the staff were not well-trained; they just placed the food items on one side of the table for us to serve ourselves. The entire outlet was overly lit, which led to an uncomfortable dining experience. Honest feedback."

"I got a 1-for-1 soup discount, but the service didn't meet expectations. I waited roughly 30 minutes for a bowl of soup and hor fun. When I asked the staff, they said they only had one chef. How can a business even run with just one chef? The staff didn't even mention that the food would take longer than usual.
Staff were clearing more plates than serving dishes, which was absurd. The hor fun arrived, but the portion was small. Please address this issue, thanks."

Upon entering, we were greeted by traditional Chinese culture, with lanterns everywhere! We ordered the pig's stomach soup and the ginseng chicken soup. The pig stomach soup was very tasty. The amount of pepper was just right, making it satisfying. The soup was very tasty! The service was very good, with friendly staff. Overall, I would visit again!

AUG24:
Dropped by during their opening promotion, which was 1-for-1 on all soups! Great value for money! Each soup comes in a small, cute pot. There are a lot of ingredients inside, and the soups are really hearty! The pumpkin rice was just average, light on the taste. Quickly drop by to try it while they still have the opening promo!!!
DEC24:
I visited again because I saw the 1-for-1 was still available! Unfortunately, this time it was disappointing. I went before, but close to 8 PM. There were only four soup options left. Still, I was excited. BUT THE SOUP WAS SOOO SALTY. It’s like they dumped salt inside… I didn’t finish my soup, which I normally do. I only ate the ingredients in the pot. After this experience, I won’t be revisiting this outlet.

Ordered sweet and sour fish, vinegar pork, roast chicken, kailan, watercress soup, and red bean paste pancake. The vinegar pork is the best. The fish was fried until very crispy, and the sauce wasn't too sour or too sweet. The roast chicken was tasty as well. The kailan was normal, but the pancake was disappointing.

I liked the ambiance, as it's not as crowded as other restaurants during lunch hour. The price is reasonable, and the servings are huge. The service staff are very friendly.
I ordered fried hor fun, san lou hor fun, and seafood beehoon with gravy. I recommend the seafood beehoon with gravy, but it's good for only two people. The beehoon is fried into a large plate.
There's a promotion going on now: buy one soup, get one soup. However, there are no refills unless you're willing to pay an additional $3 for another bowl of soup.

The nourishing soups are beautifully cooked, and the flavors are on point. The service was jarring and rubbed us the wrong way at first. We were in a wheelchair, and the service staff expected us to park our wheelchair outside and "walk" into the restaurant. Does this make any sense to anyone reading this?! We came in at a super off-peak hour, at 3 pm, when there was only one table dining inside. Why couldn't we use our wheelchair inside the restaurant, eat, and leave? The restaurant was practically empty! Elaine, the restaurant manager, did a great job with service recovery after that jarring experience. Overall, the soups are great and never disappoint us.
