We went at 6:30 PM on a Saturday night and were lucky enough to get a seat for 5 without having to wait too long (maybe a 3-minute wait).
The 生煎包 was really good when we took it away to try at home, so we came back to try other dishes.
We ordered the set meal for 2, which was really worth the price, and added on more à la carte dishes. Overall, the food tasted delectable, and we would come back again.

The signature fried bun was definitely the standout — incredibly delicious with a perfectly crispy exterior. Unfortunately, the other dishes didn’t live up to expectations. The green tea was over-brewed, and the spicy and sour soup arrived lukewarm. The onion noodles were lacking in fragrance, and the beef noodle soup was so spicy it was hard to enjoy. Considering the high prices, the overall experience didn’t feel worth it, as the flavors were mediocre.

Here's the edited review:
This place is sparsely decorated. It is quite popular, as it fills up quickly. Ordered a few of the recommended dishes. The fried buns were really juicy. One bite, and the juice sprayed onto my nose. The taste was good, but the crispy base was too thick and was like a biscuit. The XLB was acceptable but not exceptional. The special pork chop noodle was nice, but the pork shoulder was a little dry and had thick, hard tendons. The noodles were nice, but the soup base had a strong peanut taste, which was not to my liking. The chicken chop was tender and flavourful. Service was fast.

Food was very average. We ordered the set meal for 2, and after adding drinks and GST, the total came up to almost $57.
The sheng jian bao skin was quite chewy. The rest of the food tasted OK; I've had way better dishes elsewhere. The pickled veg fish had way too much Sichuan peppercorn and no other flavour. The dessert tasted better than it looked.
Probably the reason they have so many good reviews is that many people want to claim the freebies they offered for leaving good reviews. 🤷🏻♂️

Honestly, the food and service were both beyond expectations! Despite the busy peak period, the staff were all very helpful and keen to get us seated quickly and our food served very quickly. They also came back repeatedly to check if we were missing any of our set meal items. The set meal for two people is seriously VERY WORTH IT! If you’re both hungry, you’ll get a main, along with 2 portions of rice/noodles (top-up required), 4 Sheng Jian Bao, 4 Xiao long baos, a starter (I chose wings), an appetiser (I chose black fungus cucumber), and 2 ice jelly.

Their Bao is their most famous dish. Must try! Their Dan Dan Mian sauce was on point, but it can get saltier as you dig in. One small problem is that the floor can be quite dirty. A small cockroach even climbed onto my calf. I swiped it away and then changed my seat from the wall-side four-seater cushion to a two-seater table. I also saw some cockroach bait at other corner seats.

Service was swift, and the food was delivered fast! Ordered the baos to share, they were not bad, but I thought other xlbs are better. Noodles were a little too salty, but in general were not bad.

First time trying. My son likes it so much. He said this is the taste he likes. The portion is just nice. The pork soup dumplings are juicy and nice. The Shanghai classic stir-fried noodle seems like Malaysia Hokkien Mee, but the Shanghai noodles are not so oily and taste nice too. We will come back again 😃

This was our first visit, and it did not disappoint. The meal was thoroughly enjoyable, with generous portions and rich, satisfying flavors. The 生煎包 stole the show—bursting with juicy 汤汁 that squirted out the moment we bit into **them**, which got a bit messy but was totally worth it. We were so eager to eat them that unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to take any photos! One of my family members got a little messy, but the attentive waitress immediately came over with tissues and kindly warned us to be careful, which was a nice touch. The 旦旦面 was hearty and packed with flavor, perfectly comforting. The scallion noodles were tasty and flavorful, though the serving size felt a bit on the small side. To our surprise, the 酸辣汤 was exceptionally good—so much so that we seriously considered ordering a second bowl. Overall, it was a wonderful experience for our family, and we all agreed this place is a definite must-visit again.

Sheng Jian bao was juicy! However, the noodles and chicken were a tad too oily. Just FYI, they offer free soy milk or a steamed dumpling for a review here. Atmosphere-wise, there were a few flies where we sat. Other than that, portions were all a bit small, making it pricey!
