After reading countless negative recent reviews, i am quite delighted that I have quite a decent experience overall.
This is my first visit on this shop, so I will not know how good it is previously.
Anyways, while i agreed that the price is slightly costly, the experience do matter. The food is cooked in front of you and the chef will do the allocations.
My portion of squid and beef is rather decent, with lots of vegetable too. Personally, it is abit spicy and the squid is frozen, so it does not taste as good. Beef is not bad tho.
However, the soup is too cold, tasted horrible. The rice is also subpar (a lazy homecook rice will be like this)
Overall, we are contented eating. A one time experience would be fine.

Express Teppanyaki, my go-to spot for Taiwanese-style teppanyaki, has taken a hit lately. The food quality has gone downhill, and prices have skyrocketed.
And to make matters worse, they now need to certify their food as halal, which means they can’t use certain ingredients like rice wine or non-halal sauces. That’s a big change, and it’s definitely affected the taste of the dishes.
Oh, and the best part? They don’t even have pork as a protein option anymore. That’s a huge bummer for all you pork lovers out there.

Have been visiting this outlet over the years. And for the last few times, my portion of vegetables as compared to others were at least 50% difference.
The chef gave other tables huge load of portions but mine were just very little.
I find that it was not fair. And when there were a portion of beansprouts left, he topped up to a table that was given more share rather than mine that were very little.

I recently order take away from the place, and yes I do understand that taking away food from a place that serves u food directly after being cooked would cause the quality to diminish but I have taken away from that place many times over the years and so far it seems to me that their quality of raw ingredients and overall food quality has dropped quite alot.
I usually order the garlic chicken drumstick, which is why I feel the quality has dropped due to some of the chicken being very hard and sauce given being sour and a little bitter when its suppose to taste sweet and salty.

Have patronised this place on and off but never left a review. Returned recently on a friday evening and we managed to get a seat immediately since we were still early (6pm). My mum ordered the beef while i took the squid set, which was really disappointing and kinda 'scam'.
The picture in the menu showed fresh squid but it turns out to be those frozen squid flower which was definitely not worth the price im paying ($11~12). FYI, a 400g frozen pack from NTUC is about $5~$7 max.
Although the taste was fine and the beef set was well cooked, i still cant rate this place highly becos of the scammed squid hahah.
In all, perhaps just avoid the squid and everything else should be fine.

This is the worst teppanyaki meal I’ve had in my life. My sis and I paid $19 each for the sirloin set, which is not cheap. The steak was overcooked and VERY tough— we couldn’t finish it because our teeth and jaw hurt from chewing so much. To make matters worse, the rice was undercooked.
Additionally, the cashier was rude and rushed us to place our order, seemingly so she could return to watching shows on her phone.

It has been a while since my last visit, and I noticed that their prices have increased significantly, and the menu has also changed.
I ordered their Set C combo. The overall food quality hasn’t changed much—it’s the standard teppanyaki.
It seems like they now have more teppanyaki chefs, and the female chef I wasn’t too fond of is no longer there. (This is based on my subjective impression that she tended to allocate smaller portions compared to the other chefs, possibly to serve more customers in fewer rounds of cooking.) With her absence, I found the experience more satisfying.
However, there are two areas I hope they can improve: first, the texture of their steamed rice is too hard, likely due to insufficient water used when cooking. Second, I wish they would offer sugar-free canned drinks.
Overall, I’m quite satisfied with my visit.

Had the beef set and pork set.
Many reviews have touched on the service. The order counter lady is fierce. Just plan your order and pay. Don’t expect nice words and you’ll be fine.
Upon paying, if there is no queue, you’ll get a seat.
There’ll be soup and the chef will begin cooking once all orders are in. Most of the food is pretty good. The sauce definitely helps and chili is great. Portion is decent and most people would be full from the portion I think.
For what it is, a tableside cooked meal. It’s serviceable.

Food not representative of the cost $25 for a third of a piece of white fish, squid that doesnt even match that of the photo, a singular scallop and cai fan looking beef. Sauce is not bad, but $25 can go mile longer at other places in the mall compared to here. Wouldnt recommend if youre hungry or looking for something worth ur time and money.

The pricing has been increasing rapidly while their portion decrease rapidly as well. $15bucks for a simple meal, blend sauce, tough meat, salty vegetable and bean sprout. Not to mention, their half scoop rice into a bowl to make it look full. See "full" bowl rice when split into 2 bowl. 🤷♂️🤷♂️

It’s been a long time since we ate here. Ordered the beef meal. It is the same as before except that prices have increased a lot due to inflation. The beef set used to be $11 but now it’s $15. The Set C which I had a few years ago was $17 now it’s $25. I ordered the beef. You can opt for the spicy version or non spicy. The spicy version is quite spicy. Soup is very bland and not nice. It’s average in price for a plate of meat in today’s inflation economy. The taste is not too bad but don’t expect Michelin star. You pay for what you get, which is bean sprouts + meat + cabbage in that order. The queue is long so be prepared to wait, esp during peak hours but the queue moves pretty fast, if u want a quick meal go on weekdays. The beef is decent quality. One thing is the price includes GST and there is no service charge on top of the listed price. All in it’s not bad for a simple meal in the heartlands of Tampines. I would rate the food 3/5. Service is standard but no additional service charge so that’s good. If you can spare $25, the Set A to C is quite filling which includes a variety of more meat options.

Brought my son for his first in-mall teppanyaki experience and he loved it!
He had a blast taking photos of the experience and has commented that we will be back!
Look, it’s meant to be express so do not expect great service here. You line up, order your food, pay, and go to your seat. Your food gets cooked and you eat - after all, it is about efficiency!

Located in the basement of Tampines Mall, this is a simple and no-frills teppanyaki restaurant that serves decent and well-balanced meals. Each set comes with a bowl of rice and soup. It is recommended to order as a set, for example, Set A with sliced beef and prawns or Set B with chicken and sotong. The ingredients used are fresh, but lacking the marinated taste, and the food is reasonably priced, with plenty of bean sprouts and cabbage as side dishes. The garlic sauce is fragrant and flavourful, and you can add chilli padi for some spicy flavour. You can also request addition chopped chillies for a spicier version, more garlic, etc.
The restaurant is popular during meal hours, so expect a wait. They serve a default sauce that complements all dishes.

There was a queue when we visited on a weekend lunch but it moved pretty fast. We ordered at the counter, ushered to our seats and food was served within minutes.
Taste wise it was kinda average, the meat was more flavorful compared to the seafood. They served 2 kinds of veggies, beansprouts and Chinese cabbage. All meals come with rice and soup. One downside is that they don’t allow sharing, everyone had to order one meal.

I always come to this store for teppan-yakki because is the only one near my house.
Sadly, their standard drop. Price increase by alot. Most of the time got long queue, yes but very messy sometimes (like sometimes they skip some customer even though they have enough staff.)
I ordered Set C, and my friend ordered Set B which is $51 total. (6/10 rating for food)
No longer worth the price.
